First Day Dress Shopping

First of all, I will say, I got the best advice for wedding dress shopping. Some of it I have to contribute to the mags and some the girls. I went to David's Bridal (yes, I know. . .so not original). I went with the girls. No, not the entourage, but Jules and El-Bel:

It was like going to Walmart when everyone gets their food stamps! Brides came with entourages of 5 to 7 girls. . . ALL crammed up in one dressing area. . .Advice: Don't bring 50 people to see you try on dresses - Seriously, do you need 50 pieces of advice for each dress??Jules gave some fab feedback and El-Bel just smiled and occasionally giggled! Next step - Headin' to the ALT this weekend with Red and GeeGee to see Aklet. Trunk show for Impressional Bridal at New Natalie's. Should be a blast with two other of my other gals!

We will also get to visit with GeeGee's sister and family(translation - soon to become in-laws!). Hard-core wedding planning, here I come!!

If I Had A Blog.. . .

One of my friend's emailed me today. I thought I would post it:


I have friends that blog. I think they are very clever and I enjoy catching up with them via their blog. I think about writing my own, but what would I say. I can't even get my Facebook account straight.
However, today was one of those days that a blog would have been the perfect thing to post this cute story:

It was getting close to nap time. Gracyn had gone upstairs to find Otto. I followed to find Gracyn on our bed burring her head into Otto's fur. I thought, "what a good time to go down and quickly look up something on my computer." After rushing through a couple of web sites, I listened closely to hear if Otto had scratched her face off or if she was into some other type of mischief. I heard nothing. So I rushed upstairs; while passing Gracyn's room, I made a quick glance to find that everything was in place. Then I went into our room to find Otto alone and happy in our bed. "Where's Gracyn!" I went back to her room. She had crawled up into her new big girl bed, covered herself, and was asleep cuddling with Lovey Bear.
A priceless moment that I had to share with you.

"Messy" Boys

I have found that boys are just messy. GeeGee's mother is coming this weekend, and I have made a list of things that he needs to clean or help clean before their arrival. He seems to think the place is not messy at all. . .WRONG he is! My cat's hair is ALL over the place, dust bunnies can be found behind my nightstand, and the bathrooms need a once over (after this weekend with guests, last week with guests, and general use in the last 2 weeks. . they need it!).

I figure if I make him clean, eventually he will get us a housekeeper. Cross your fingers!!

A SPOILED Cat. . .

Alley LOVES her new home. GeeGee has decided to spoil her, and feed her wet food. This is something I have NEVER done. Check out what she did to her food:




Now, Alley has ALWAYS had a tenancy to push her food out of her bowl if the pieces are too small. She will MEOW to no ends, if she has JUST crumbs in her bowl (even if it is FULL of crumbs) - note the pieces around her bowl. The most interesting part of this for me, is the fact she did this to her wet food too. . .She ate ALL the wet part of the food, and left most of the chunks, and even pushed some off the plate! I can't even begin to imagine where she learned this habit! Weird cat. . . .

The RIVAH

I spent the weekend at JJ's rivah house this weekend. I followed her up with the twins on Friday. The house is AWESOME!! The views are incredible!! We spent some time relaxing (when the babies were sleeping). . .other than that it was eating, drinking, walking!

I have decided that this trip must have been planned out with GeeGee. I was SOOOO worn out by the end of the weekend, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it! THEN, it occured to me: I've been chasing and carrying babies all weekend

CONCLUSION: GeeGee is trying to wear me out on being around and helping with KIDS! So, GeeGee, what are you trying to say??

Pre-Memorial Day Pary (a.k.a.- Big DECK Party)

Red and I took most of the week preparing for our annual Memorial Day weekend party. As always, we had some surpise guests, as well as some people we thought we would definately see, but didn't (Aklet, I was hoping you would be a surprise guest . . .boo-hoo).

This year we had a plutherer of children (so, we know what our friends have been busy doing)! It was very awesome to see everyone having a great time!!

We had a new guest to our annual party that even brought oysters to grill (and actually grilled them himself). Needless to say, my grill duty was not nearly as long as it usually is!!

As usual, Scar came down with her family for the party (which is always a hit!).

One thing that really stuck out on Monday morning (besides my throbbing head) was the fact that we nearly had ZERO left overs!! Red even texted me in the morning to see if I could cook her a burger (. . . .really). I had to sadly tell her that there was NOTHING left but potato salad and cole slaw. The only thing that WAS left over, was the bar. . . Yes, if you can believe it. . .We actually had a RIDICULOUS amount of beer and liquor left! What is wrong with our friends!! They must be growing up (and having kids!)!

Our visit went well. GeeGee's dad came in town with his wife this weekend. We went to dinner, and managed to sneak in some brief time together on Sunday (before the party). Pheeeewww! That was stressful!!

And as if I didn't have enough on my list of POSITIVE changes, GeeGee proposed to me last night! And of course, I joyfully accepted.

To top it off, my friends through a surprise party for me last night to celebrate (I guess GeeGee knew I'd say yes). As if I wasn't surprised enough, I opened the door to greet incoming guests to find MY MOM and Stevie to be there too!

I'm not sure life could get any better. . .

SLACKER

Hey All -
So I have been a complete slacker this month, but A LOT has been going on. I figured I just give you a run down of my events:

1. I went to Atlanta to visit Aklet: We had a lovely but short visit in the ATL

2. My sister came down to RIC for a week days (5), and we enjoyed some quality time

3. I resigned from my job (yes, it is true. I am going to try to find another job for September outside of teaching elementary children. Any suggestions??)

4. I refinanced my house

5. My roommate moved out

6. I went to the Bahamas

ALL of this in ONE MONTH'S time!! Can you blame me for not getting sucked into to the computer??

The BACK Seat

My sister celebrated her birthday today with our mother. I was talking to mom on the phone, and she was explaining how Lil' Sis had to open her birthday present in the back seat of the car today after lunch.

Mom: I felt so bad! I told her it was probably like having sex for the first time in the back seat of the car. You were trying to make it special, but it was 'in the back seat'!!!!

Luckily, my first time was not in the back seat of a car, so I had no idea what she meant!

Family History

My cousin sent me this picture on Facebook the other day. It is a picture of my mother, and her three brothers. She was about 8, the twins five years, the older brother, 16.

Ice FISHING 101

So, the Cousin showed me up this weekend! She was the daughter my father WISHED he had. Cousin volenteered to gut and clean the fish from the ice fishing derby on Little Ossippee Lake, Maine. We even got it all on tape!!!

NOTE: I am deciding not to provide any graphics for this one. I am having fish for dinner. . .

Valentine HERO

After Cousin and I left our ice climbing adventure, the truck, that my step dad had so graciously loaned us, broke down in North Conway. I'll give you a little geography lesson here: North Conway is an hour drive from East Wakefield (my mom's house), two hours from my sister's, and 3 hours from my dad's.


We were STUCK! The car wouldn't start, my mom and step dad were in Miami, my sister would not even THINK about driving to come get us, GeeGee didn't know where he was, or where he would be going, and my dad was too far away. As I was frantically calling EVERYONE to inform them of our dilemma, my dad beeped in. . . . .

"Dad! I can't talk right now, we are broken down in North Conway. . . . . !" He says, "I'm in Fryburg, 10 minutes away! I'll come get you!!"

Weirdly enough, my dad was in the next town over. He RARELY gets off the "mountain" where he lives, but was there to rescue his daughter on VALENTINE'S DAY. How lucky was I??
