After work on Friday, I noticed this:

SLACKER

Hey All -
So I have been a complete slacker this month, but A LOT has been going on. I figured I just give you a run down of my events:

1. I went to Atlanta to visit Aklet: We had a lovely but short visit in the ATL

2. My sister came down to RIC for a week days (5), and we enjoyed some quality time

3. I resigned from my job (yes, it is true. I am going to try to find another job for September outside of teaching elementary children. Any suggestions??)

4. I refinanced my house

5. My roommate moved out

6. I went to the Bahamas

ALL of this in ONE MONTH'S time!! Can you blame me for not getting sucked into to the computer??

10K Anyone!?!

Ukrops (our local grocery) had their annual 10K Walk/Run. I, on the other hand, worked my BUTT off at work. Buddy's was SLAMMED all weekend. I think I did the 10K TWICE.

Funny story:

We have a 2 for 1 deal at Buddy's from 10-12. You should SEE the people it attracts (it is sooo fun!). Some people try to sneak in, 10 minutes before 12, sit at a dirty table, and try to order IMMEDIATELY when you go to clear off the table.
I had this one group yesterday, that came in, and did just that. The thing is, it is not my call whether you get there before noon. The computer turns off the special at 12 o'clock (technology is AWESOME). So, I gave these people their check, and the man claimed that I have made a mistake:
"Ma'am, there is a mistake on my check. You charged us for ALL of our meals, and we got the two-for-one.. . ."
"Actually sir, the special is only until 12 o'clock. The computers automatically turn off the special after 12. "
(The man then gets angry- over $10 - and gets in my face)
"We were here BEFORE noon! We sat down and ordered! I know we did!!"
"Again sir, I have no control over the timer on the computer. . . "
"WELL, I need to see a manager then!!"
"YOU are looking at her!!" (I then walked away, since he was wasting my time, and I thought I was going to PUNCH him)
Anywho, the man came in and demanded that if I was the manager, then I could take it off his check. I proceeded to tell him to just leave and I would pay for his meals. He said, "Thanks. I appreciate it!" I told him that it was no problem, and "Thanks for taking $20 out of my pocket!"
What an ASS!?!

New Year's Resolutions

FIRST of all, I think I have made it clear that BLOGGING is not one of my resolutions (hence, the lack of posts in '09).

However, these are some of the changes I plan on implementing:

1. Getting out of ANY debt I may have, excluding my house and student loans (Unfortunately, my student loans will be with me for a LONG time) - GOAL date: March '09

2. Taking care of my health (Yes, this means going to the gym on a more regular basic AND spending more time DDing, not d-drinkin'!)

3. Find satisfaction in my job (The job market is WAY to bad to do any career changes!)

4. Having my dear, sweet, loving boyfriend cook for me (and NO, ordering and paying for takeout does not count!!)

5. Get rid of JUNK, and half used things or unused things(EX: I just painted my bathroom with vertical stripes with left over paint from my kitchen, main bathroom, and bedroom - HEY! It may look FUNKY, but I got rid of SEVERAL paint cans lurking around in my attic)

More RETARDS

I really DO wonder about people and were they have learned to BE and ACT stupid. . .REALLY!?! I made a previous post on my adventures at work -- Breaking the LAW

Here is another list of a typical day at Buddy's, surrounded by RETARDED people. This ALL happened in ONE shift:

• The FIRST patrons that walked in, immediately asked to adjust the thermostat to their desired degree
• Letting your kids stick stickers ALL over the tables. . .and leave them
• Telling a patron, "We don't serve drafts outside". When questioned why, another patron took it upon themselves to explain that it's because we "just don't feel like carrying them outside"
• Whistling at me across the bar like a dog to get my attention. . .
• Stand on the outside of the patio to reach over to drink your drink. . .and think that it is NOT an ABC violation
• Asking to subtract the cost of chicken from a sandwich because they chose not to eat it with it (So, in other words: If you got a Mexican omelet, and didn't get the mushrooms and onions, you should be able to subtract the cost of that. . .right???)

I love my second job!!!

Breaking The LAW

As you all already know, I am usually one who breaks the rules. . . This is not to be misinterpreted by, breaking the law. I worked both Saturday and Sunday this week. During the course of the weekend I was fortunate enough to wait on several UNEDUCATED beings. Below is the list of violations:

• Patrons entered with their own food (I know the food isn't OUTSTANDING at the restaurant, but it is surely better than Hardy's) - Health Code Violation


• Patrons entered with their own beverages ( I know times are tough, but at least you get free refills on your soft drinks, right??) - ABC Violation


• I had TWO separate patrons believe it was okay to have their dogs sit on the patio with them (and let their dogs beg at OTHER people's food. . .) - Health Code Violation


• A group of people drinking their beers OUTSIDE of the patio (they obviously did not think they had enough room ON the patio -the patio was empty) - ABC Violation


• Lastly, my favorite: A man comes up to me (who's party was eating and drinking on the patio with two infants), and asked if I had Styrofoam cups? I replied by saying, "I do, but not to put your alcohol beverage in!" He suggested that it was not for that reason. OH! Did I mention that there was a table of cops in the restaurant too?- ABC Violation

On top of the violations, I had several customers wanting to get the "2 for 1" meal for themselves (so they could order FOUR eggs, TWO sides of meat, TWO sides of bread, and TWO sides of hash browns - and throw away half of it, because it is TOO much food). Not to mention, these people stereotypically do not tip accordingly. I also had a person call in a to-go order for a 2 for 1 meal - NOT HAPPENING

People. . . ???? What are you smoking??

The Water Cycle In Richmond

Water Cycle

This is an example of one of my FIRST podcasts. I drew the pictures in Pixie ( I know I should be an artist), and dropped them into Movie Maker. I then recorded my voice in Audacity, and put that in the storyboard. Lastly, I added my music. . .The timing at the end was just LUCK!

I also had to covert it to MP4 after it was published in a .WMV format (Thanks Monty!)
