First Day Dress Shopping

First of all, I will say, I got the best advice for wedding dress shopping. Some of it I have to contribute to the mags and some the girls. I went to David's Bridal (yes, I know. . .so not original). I went with the girls. No, not the entourage, but Jules and El-Bel:

It was like going to Walmart when everyone gets their food stamps! Brides came with entourages of 5 to 7 girls. . . ALL crammed up in one dressing area. . .Advice: Don't bring 50 people to see you try on dresses - Seriously, do you need 50 pieces of advice for each dress??Jules gave some fab feedback and El-Bel just smiled and occasionally giggled! Next step - Headin' to the ALT this weekend with Red and GeeGee to see Aklet. Trunk show for Impressional Bridal at New Natalie's. Should be a blast with two other of my other gals!

We will also get to visit with GeeGee's sister and family(translation - soon to become in-laws!). Hard-core wedding planning, here I come!!

Girls Gathering

Every year, the girls have a holiday get together. This year, my dearest, bestest friend ever, Aklet, was able to join in the festivities:

Anywho, our get together was a great success! Everyone came out (well, at least everyone that counts!) to the new abode to eat, drink and be merry! Kirky volunteered to make a dinner for us all - Cornish game hens with mushroom-artichoke stuffing - DeLiCiOuS!!



















We had some great fun doing our Chinese gift exchange this year. Some of our highlighted/stolen gifts exchanged included: a Barbie doll, a cute purse with some not so cute hemorrhoidal cream (for us aging folks), a robe

There was more exchanging (a.k.a. gift stealing) that in the past! Is it us getting feisty in our old age??

Needless to say, it was a great time, to be with great friends!

If I Had A Blog.. . .

One of my friend's emailed me today. I thought I would post it:


I have friends that blog. I think they are very clever and I enjoy catching up with them via their blog. I think about writing my own, but what would I say. I can't even get my Facebook account straight.
However, today was one of those days that a blog would have been the perfect thing to post this cute story:

It was getting close to nap time. Gracyn had gone upstairs to find Otto. I followed to find Gracyn on our bed burring her head into Otto's fur. I thought, "what a good time to go down and quickly look up something on my computer." After rushing through a couple of web sites, I listened closely to hear if Otto had scratched her face off or if she was into some other type of mischief. I heard nothing. So I rushed upstairs; while passing Gracyn's room, I made a quick glance to find that everything was in place. Then I went into our room to find Otto alone and happy in our bed. "Where's Gracyn!" I went back to her room. She had crawled up into her new big girl bed, covered herself, and was asleep cuddling with Lovey Bear.
A priceless moment that I had to share with you.

Fortunate

Sometimes I forget how fortunate I am. . .fortunate to have a job, fortunate to have a roof over my head, fortunate to have a fiance that loves and adores me (not to mention puts up with me), and lastly very fortunate to have special friends.
This weekend I traveled to the Outer Banks, and Kirsten did some engagement photos for GeeGee and I. She did an AMAZING job, not that I expected any less. I don't want to share too much. . . .You will see more when you recieve your save the date cards this Fall. . .

I just felt the need to say, I am BLESSED!

I had a wonderful birthday this year, with some my closest and dearest friends. We went to Si Tapas . The sangria was FABULOUS!!

On The Marsh

I spent the weekend at JJ's rivah house this weekend. I followed her up with the twins on Friday. The house is AWESOME!! The views are incredible!! We spent some time relaxing (when the babies were sleeping). . .other than that it was eating, drinking, walking!

I have decided that this trip must have been planned out with GeeGee. I was SOOOO worn out by the end of the weekend, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it! THEN, it occured to me: I've been chasing and carrying babies all weekend

CONCLUSION: GeeGee is trying to wear me out on being around and helping with KIDS! So, GeeGee, what are you trying to say??

Pre-Memorial Day Pary (a.k.a.- Big DECK Party)

Red and I took most of the week preparing for our annual Memorial Day weekend party. As always, we had some surpise guests, as well as some people we thought we would definately see, but didn't (Aklet, I was hoping you would be a surprise guest . . .boo-hoo).

This year we had a plutherer of children (so, we know what our friends have been busy doing)! It was very awesome to see everyone having a great time!!

We had a new guest to our annual party that even brought oysters to grill (and actually grilled them himself). Needless to say, my grill duty was not nearly as long as it usually is!!

As usual, Scar came down with her family for the party (which is always a hit!).

One thing that really stuck out on Monday morning (besides my throbbing head) was the fact that we nearly had ZERO left overs!! Red even texted me in the morning to see if I could cook her a burger (. . . .really). I had to sadly tell her that there was NOTHING left but potato salad and cole slaw. The only thing that WAS left over, was the bar. . . Yes, if you can believe it. . .We actually had a RIDICULOUS amount of beer and liquor left! What is wrong with our friends!! They must be growing up (and having kids!)!

And as if I didn't have enough on my list of POSITIVE changes, GeeGee proposed to me last night! And of course, I joyfully accepted.

To top it off, my friends through a surprise party for me last night to celebrate (I guess GeeGee knew I'd say yes). As if I wasn't surprised enough, I opened the door to greet incoming guests to find MY MOM and Stevie to be there too!

I'm not sure life could get any better. . .

SLACKER

Hey All -
So I have been a complete slacker this month, but A LOT has been going on. I figured I just give you a run down of my events:

1. I went to Atlanta to visit Aklet: We had a lovely but short visit in the ATL

2. My sister came down to RIC for a week days (5), and we enjoyed some quality time

3. I resigned from my job (yes, it is true. I am going to try to find another job for September outside of teaching elementary children. Any suggestions??)

4. I refinanced my house

5. My roommate moved out

6. I went to the Bahamas

ALL of this in ONE MONTH'S time!! Can you blame me for not getting sucked into to the computer??

So, Red and I are celebrating her birthday, as of 4 minutes ago. We were looking at some health tips as we are talking to Jose, since Jim has left the building. . . The tip read:

For automatic portion control, sip wine from a Champagne flute, not an oversize goblet.

The reply from my elder was, " That will just make me make more trips to the fridge". .. .

Showing My Age?

I went to a Fleetwood Mac concert this week. Red and I got to spend some quality time together. We were at a bar before the show, and this man behind us asked us who was playing. Red said, "Fleetwood Mac!" He said, "I don't know who that is!" I turned around and asked him how old he was!?. . . ."33!"
I felt a little insulted, as I thought he was suggesting that he was younger than I was. Really, he was just showing his lack of intelligence. EVERYONE knows who Fleetwood Mac is, right??

Ice FISHING 101

So, the Cousin showed me up this weekend! She was the daughter my father WISHED he had. Cousin volenteered to gut and clean the fish from the ice fishing derby on Little Ossippee Lake, Maine. We even got it all on tape!!!

NOTE: I am deciding not to provide any graphics for this one. I am having fish for dinner. . .

Ice Climbing 101

This weekend was QUITE an adventure! GeeGee and I flew up to New Hampshire for the LONG weekend, and met his cousin there (whom had NEVER seen ice OR snow) to go ice climbing with the International Mountain Climbing School in North Conway.

Cousin and I ventured up to North Conway, geared on up, and climbed Cathedral Ledge. It was an AWESOME adventure: we froze our BUTTS off, bruised ourselves considerably, and got a GREAT upper body workout. We were able to climb one side of the ledge twice, and then went and climbed a COMPLETELY vertical ledge as well.

We BOTH decided that we had never spent so much money on a Valentine's date before, but it was worth it.

I think we can officially be called "Mountain Women" now!

Recovering. . . .

It has taken me days, but I am finally feeling back to normal. Well, as normal as I get.

I just had a WONDERFUL weekend with my best friend forever (Aklet).

She got to come and visit me from the ATL. She also got to visit (well,. . .party) with some of my closest friends. . which of course she already knows: Red, Sunrise, and Ghetto

GeeGee was also in town, as well as his buddy Yusif (as pictured in the above picture. . .the brave enough one to partake in my "hat photo shoot". We had one hell of a time! We spent about a total of 2 hours out at the bars, and the rest of the time tornado-ING through my house.

Needless to say, I would do it ALL over again. Unfortunately, I don't have any CRAZY stories to tell about the weekend. The company involved, explains it enough. . . .

THANKSgiving

Although I was was not able to spend Thanksgiving with my family (or GeeGee), I was able to make it a memorable one with friends. We managed to hustle some Germans into the debauchery. They had hit me up from Couchsurfing.com the night before. They were suppose to travel to D.C. (. . . .nightmare!!), but we talked them into to gallavanting around with our posse!

Our carivan consisted of: The Germans - (really Russians), Red, Pepper, Roomie, oatmeal raisin/chocolate chip cookies, cornbread/pumpkin muffins, and CHAMPANGE


We managed to make FOUR stops that day. We had sooo much fun, I could hardly stand (myself) the next day. Below are some pictures from the day:
